My latest book, Gone Running and Gone, is now available on Amazon.com as a Kindle book. If you are a member, you can also borrow it from their library. Better yet, you can down load it Free from December 11, 2015 and December 15th. I only have a few drops of Scott blood in me, but I know a bargain when I see it.
My son and daughter annually ride the Texas MS 150 bike ride. One year we stood on the sidewalk at the finish of the event as 13,000 cyclists rode by. It was only 5 days after the Boston Marathon bombing. I could see the similarity. Both events had large number of participants. In both cases, large crowds of spectators were at the finish. As a result I was inspired to write a book about a man and woman, both senior citizens, meeting on the bike ride with explosive results at the finish.
As I prepared to publish A Dangerous Bike Ride, I decided to make it book 1 of the Richard Tracy Series featuring Richard Tracy, a retired detective and Mary Beth Austin, a retired chef. In book 1 they meet while riding in the Texas MS-150 and fall in love. They are such a delightful couple and so in love that I felt obligated to make them the hero and heroine of a series. They look forward to spending their golden years together gardening, running and bicycling, but somehow they keep getting into trouble.
In A Dangerous Bike Ride, Mary Beth is comfortable riding a bike while Richard would rather be running. When Mary Beth disappears in the aftermath of the explosion, Richard uses his detective skills to find her, and uses his skills as a former Marine Corps officer to rescue her.
In the second book, Gone Running and Gone, it is Richard who is in his element, running a marathon. Mary Beth is his cheerleader and support team. At the beginning of the book, Richard is harassed and threatened by a student who he once helped to arrest. He does not let this bother him. As he runs the marathon, Mary Beth cheers from the edge of the road. Then she rides her bike up the course a few miles and waits to cheer for him again. Then Richard disappears. He is simply gone. Now Mary Beth must help the police and find and rescue the love of her life.
This has been a fun book to write. I hope you take this opportunity to download the book free and enjoy it.
I am glad you asked, but yes, there will be a book 3. I already have a couple of chapters written. The first chapter of book 3 follows the end of Gone Running and Gone. I hope to publish book 3 as an e-book in the fall of 2016.
“Woof, woof,” the voice of a large black and tan dog.
“OK, Theodore. I will let them know that you, a dog, will be a guest character in book 3.”
First enjoy books 1 and 2.
