What do we call it? Is it a romance, or is it a mystery? Emma Calin is a British author who has created a series of books called the “Passion Patrol Series” featuring charming heroines who enforce the law, but who enjoy smoldering romantic episodes while doing so. These heroines are excellent cops even if they occasionally run afoul of the regulations. Needless to say, Emma writes what she knows so these beautiful woman are tough “Bobbies” who help enforce the law in London and other parts of the United Kingdom. It makes me wonder just how these busy officers of the law have time to spend in the arms of hansom men. That is a question that needs to be investigated by reading the books. Emma is a prolific author both of short stories and novels. I enjoy a good mystery or even a good police procedural, and almost everyone enjoys an honest romance. Emma offers readers the opportunity to have both mystery and romance in one book. Just take care to keep the books out of the hands of your teens. Some of the scenes are very, very steamy.

Shannon’s Law by Emma Calin
Wild child inner city cop Shannon Aguerri walks a dangerous line between her methods and justice. When the bosses lose their nerve, after yet another maverick mission, she is transferred to green pastures to play out the role of a routine village cop. When she encounters signs of people and drug trafficking she homes in on serious millionaire criminals. As a loner she has attracted men but nothing has stuck. When she meets Spencer, the hunky and widowed Earl of Bloxington, there is an immediate rapport between them. Their social differences mean nothing to their passion and need. Already in the mix is an upper class female rival – who has long plotted her way into the Earl’s bed. The jealousy is an evil shade of green and the anger is a violent scarlet. Often inhibited by a sense of duty and honour, Spencer is slow to reveal his feelings. When Shannon confronts him with the need to choose between her word and that of her rival, he does not immediately support her. All the same, when they are forced together to carry out a desperate rescue mission their love is stronger than everything ranged against them.
Readers need to be warned that there are some steamy sex scenes between consenting adults and some of the street talk is realistically rough.
The book has yet to be released, but the paperback is available from Amazon on a when released basis.
