I just finished a great thriller by Jon Guenther. I enjoyed it and recommend it to everyone (except my dear friend who does not like thrillers).
Soul Runner by Jon Guenther is full of action. Bullets fly, characters are at risk. Some are severely injured, a few die. Even foreign governments and the CIA get involved.
What makes Soul Runner unique is that it is a Christian thriller. The protagonist, Bram, is an agent of an organization that rescues severely persecuted Christians. In discharging his duties, Bram is in as much danger as the hero of any other thriller, but because of his moral convictions he tries to avoid killing his adversaries. Of course, he is under divine protection which even includes an angel who appears at opportune times.
Naturally Bram’s mission is to rescue a beautiful girl. Sparks fly. There is no question he will want to marry her once he gets her out, but can he get her safely out of her country? Can he keep himself alive? If both of them do safely get out of her country, will she have any romantic interest in him?
An excellent read, and it is so refreshing to read an action novel that is free of profanity and gratuitous sex. Underlying everything is the essence of moral values and Christian doctrine.
